Coveting

`Thou dost not desire the house of thy neighbour, thou dost not desire the wife of thy neighbour, or his man-servant, or his handmaid, or his ox, or his ass, or anything which <FI>is<Fi> thy neighbour's.'

What, then, shall we say? the law <FI>is<Fi> sin? let it not be! but the sin I did not know except through law, for also the covetousness I had not known if the law had not said:

`Thou dost not desire thy neighbour's wife; nor dost thou covet thy neighbour's house, his field, and his man-servant, and his handmaid, his ox, and his ass, and anything which <FI>is<Fi> thy neighbour's.

for a root of all the evils is the love of money, which certain longing for did go astray from the faith, and themselves did pierce through with many sorrows;

for, `Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt do no murder, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false testimony, Thou shalt not covet;' and if there is any other command, in this word it is summed up, in this: `Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself;'

and whoredom, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not even be named among you, as becometh saints;

And he said unto them, `Observe, and beware of the covetousness, because not in the abundance of one's goods is his life.'

for this ye know, that every whoremonger, or unclean, or covetous person, who is an idolater, hath no inheritance in the reign of the Christ and God.
