And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof.
'The nations will walk by its light, and the kings of the earth will bring their splendor into it; its gates will never be shut, because there is no night there' - the nations and kings, rather than opposing God, now bring their treasures and honor to his city. The open gates (never shut) signify perfect security and perpetual welcome; there is no night, no hiding, no closure.
