“And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads:”
It also forced all people, great and small, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hands or on their foreheads - the mark controls economic life and identifies allegiance. The mark on the hand (work) and forehead (loyalty) signal total submission of action and thought to the beast's system.
