ISAIAH 55:10 — KING JAMES VERSION 0 0
Isa 55:9Isa 55:11
For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater:
The continued blessing—'Instead of the thorn shall come up the cypress; instead of the brier shall come up the myrtle; and it shall be to Yahweh for a memorial, for an everlasting sign that shall not be cut off'—depicts transformation of worthless plants into valuable ones. The substitution of cypress for thorn and myrtle for brier suggests that nature itself will be transformed toward fruitfulness. The assertion that this transformation serves as 'memorial' and 'everlasting sign' suggests that it permanently marks God's redemptive work. This verse makes restoration include environmental healing.
