Haggai

Haggai's ministry lasted less than four months, but it restarted a stalled work of God. Eighteen years after the exiles returned, the temple's foundation still lay abandoned while the people busied themselves with their own paneled houses, and somehow never had enough. Consider your ways, Haggai says, twice, and remarkably, they listen: leaders and people rise and build within weeks. To those who remembered Solomon's temple and wept at this modest one, God promises something better: I am with you, my Spirit remains among you, and the latter glory of this house shall exceed the former.
