“And I saw the seven angels which stood before God; and to them were given seven trumpets.”
And I saw the seven angels who stand before God, and seven trumpets were given to them — the seven angels (likely archangels) who stand in God's immediate presence receive seven trumpets (salpigx), instruments of divine proclamation and judgment. Their standing before God (histēmi enopion) establishes their direct authority.
Church Fathers on Revelation 8:2
“And when He had opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven for about half an hour.” Whereby is signified the beginning of everlasting rest; but it is described as partial, because the silence being interrupted, he repeats it in order. For if the silence had continued, here would be an end of his narrative.
