“And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them.”
Then I heard a voice from heaven say, 'Write: Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on.' 'Yes,' says the Spirit, 'they will rest from their labor, for their deeds will follow them' - those who remain faithful even unto martyrdom are declared blessed. Their rest from labor contrasts with the restless torment of those who worship the beast; their deeds (faithful testimony) follow as their eternal legacy.
Church Fathers on Revelation 14:13
“And I saw an angel flying through the midst of heaven.” The angel flying through the midst of heaven, whom he says that he saw, we have already treated of above, as being the same Elias who anticipates the kingdom of Antichrist in his prophecy. “And another angel following him.” The other angel following, he speaks of as the same prophet who is the associate of his prophesying.
