“He spake unto them in the cloudy pillar: they kept his testimonies, and the ordinance that he gave them.”
God spoke in pillar of cloud: "He spoke to them in the pillar of cloud; they kept his decrees and the statutes he gave them." The revelation in the pillar of cloud became the basis for obedience. Divine instruction and human response are linked.
