“The Lord reigneth; let the people tremble: he sitteth between the cherubims; let the earth be moved.”
Psalm 99 opens with God's kingship: "The LORD is king; let the peoples tremble! He sits enthroned upon the cherubim; let the earth quake!" The rule of God causes trembling and quaking. The cherubim emphasize the king's throne as cosmic and holy.
