“Now also when I am old and grayheaded, O God, forsake me not; until I have shewed thy strength unto this generation, and thy power to every one that is to come.”
The plea that in old age and gray hairs God would not abandon articulates that devotion throughout life should result in care in declining years. The intention to declare God's might to generations establishes that the witness is intergenerational: the psalmist will testify to descendants.
