“Thus I was as a man that heareth not, and in whose mouth are no reproofs.”
The psalmist describes how he is like a man who hears not and in whose mouth are no arguments. The similarity to one who cannot hear and who offers no arguments suggests the psalmist's apparent surrender and cessation of self-defense.
