“This is the service of the families of the sons of Gershon in the tabernacle of the congregation: and their charge shall be under the hand of Ithamar the son of Aaron the priest.”
At the commandment of Aaron and his sons shall be all the service of the sons of Gershon, in all that they are to bear and in all that they are to do — the priestly oversight of Gershon's service parallels Kohath's subjection to the priesthood, establishing a unified chain of command from Aaron through the Levitical clans.
