For we will not inherit with them on yonder side Jordan, or forward; because our inheritance is fallen to us on this side Jordan eastward — they clarify their position: they do not desire a shared inheritance with the other tribes in Canaan ("yonder side Jordan"), because their inheritance has already been determined for them in the east (Transjordan).
