LUKE 24:23 — KING JAMES VERSION 0
“And when they found not his body, they came, saying, that they had also seen a vision of angels, which said that he was alive.”
But didn't find his body. They came and told us that they had seen a vision of angels, who said he was alive — didn't find his body: the empty tomb confirmed. A vision of angels who said he was alive: the angelic report communicated at second hand — they heard from the women who heard from the angels. The chain of testimony is not yet convincing.
Church Fathers on Luke 24:23
After the manifestation of Christ’s resurrection made by the Angels to the women, the same resurrection is further manifested by an appearance of Christ Himself to His disciples; as it is said, And behold two of them.
Some say that Luke was one of these two, and for this reason concealed his name.
Or to two of the disciples by themselves our Lord showed Himself in the evening, namely, Ammaon and Cleophas.
