“Seek ye the Lord while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near:”
The call to seek God—'Seek Yahweh while he may be found, call upon him while he is near. Let the wicked forsake their way, and the unrighteous their thoughts; let them return to Yahweh, that he may have mercy on them, and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon'—appeals to all, regardless of past wickedness, to seek and find God. The temporal language ('while he may be found,' 'while he is near') suggests that divine accessibility is not permanent. The call to 'wicked' and 'unrighteous' to 'forsake' and 'return' emphasizes that repentance is possible. The promise of 'abundant pardon' emphasizes grace. This verse extends invitation to restoration to all who seek.
