For the LORD has poured out upon you a spirit of deep sleep, and has closed your eyes, the prophets, and covered your heads, the seers, establishing that the spiritual blindness of the leadership—prophets and seers—is itself divinely caused, a judgment that removes the ability to see and understand what is coming. The closing of eyes and covering of heads suggest a deprivation of the capacity for vision and prophecy.
