Your covenant with death will be annulled, and your agreement with Sheol will not stand; when the overwhelming scourge passes through, then you will be trampled down by it, establishing the reversal and failure of the false confidence, showing that the covenant with death will be dissolved and those who trusted in it will be subjected to the very scourge they thought they had avoided. The annulling of the death covenant suggests its utter unreliability and the futility of reliance upon it.
