And there were wars between Rehoboam and Jeroboam continually — The Chronicler cites prophetic sources for Rehoboam's reign (דִּבְרֵי שְׁמַעְיָה הַנָּבִיא וְעִדּוֹ הַחֹזֶה). Perpetual conflict marked the era (וּמִלְחָמוֹת בֵּין רְחַבְעָם וּבֵין יָרָבְעָם כָּל־הַיָּמִים).
