“For the body is not one member, but many.”
Even so the body is not made up of one part but of many — Paul establishes the necessary pluriformity of the body; a body with one part is not a body at all but a mere fragment, making multiplicity of members essential to what a body is.

“For the body is not one member, but many.” i.e., We have come to the same initiation, we enjoy the same Table. And why said he not, “we are nourished by the same body and drink the same blood?” Because by saying “Spirit,” he declared them both, as well the flesh as the blood.
