Peter protested, 'You shall never wash my feet.' Jesus answered, 'Unless I wash you, you have no part with me.' Feet-washing was a servant's work.
Peter objects to the role reversal. But Jesus makes clear: this service is the condition of belonging. You enter the kingdom through willingness to be served by God in lowly ways. We want to earn it. God wants to serve us. That's harder to accept than we'd think.
