Paul respected Philemon's agency - he didn't want to do something good without Philemon's willing participation. He wanted Philemon to choose the good.
I work in social justice and I'm realizing that good imposed without consent is not actually good. It's domination dressed up.
I'm learning to work with communities rather than for them. To invite participation rather than impose solutions. That's much slower but it's actually transformative.
