Those who wait on the Lord will renew their strength. They will mount up on wings like eagles, run and not grow weary, walk and not faint. It's a promise about renewal - not that you won't get tired, but that you'll be renewed.
I think about waiting - it's not passive. It's active waiting, oriented waiting, waiting with expectation. And the promise is that if you do that, your strength will be renewed. Not maintained at current levels, but actually renewed.
I've been tired for a long time - tired from pushing, from striving, from being strong. And I've been starting to learn what it means to wait on God instead of pushing forward on my own strength. It feels like weakness, but the verse is saying: that's when renewal happens.
