I teach the Bible to college students and I notice something - when I treat Scripture as ancient text to analyze, people get bored. But when I treat it as a living word that actually speaks to who we are now, things shift.
The author's saying the word penetrates the human condition - it sees through us, judges our thoughts and attitudes, exposes what we're really about. That requires the word to be alive, not dead letters.
I've started praying with Scripture instead of just studying it. Letting it ask me questions instead of me extracting information from it. And the same passage that seemed irrelevant suddenly becomes devastatingly relevant. Because the word is actually meeting me.
