Then Moses climbed Mount Nebo from the plains of Moab to the top of Pisgah, across from Jericho. And the Lord showed him all the land. The entire land spread out before him. The Promised Land that he will not enter. He gets to see it. He doesn't get to live in it, but he gets to see it. He climbs the mountain and stands at the edge and looks at everything God promised. I think about people who've prepared the way for something they won't experience. Parents who've saved money for their children's education. Activists who've fought for rights they may not fully enjoy. Builders who've built institutions they'll leave behind. Healers who've helped people they'll never know the outcomes for. Moses climbs the mountain and sees the fullness of what God promised even though he won't walk through it. And that's enough. The promise is real. The land is there. His work wasn't wasted. His leadership led to this moment where someone stands at the edge and can finally see the fulfillment, even if that someone won't be him.
