The innermost curtains of the tabernacle are made of fine twisted linen and blue, purple, and scarlet thread, with cherubim skillfully worked into them. But here's the thing - most people never saw these curtains. They were hidden inside the tent, visible only to the priests who entered to perform duties.
My grandmother was an artist, and she always worked on the backs of things - the undersides of quilts, the inside of drawers, the back walls of cabinets. When I asked why she spent so much time on things no one would see, she said 'God sees. And I know. That's enough.'
The intricate beauty woven into the tabernacle that most Israelites would never personally witness tells me something about God's character: He creates beauty not for applause or recognition, but because beauty itself is part of holiness. The hidden things matter too.
