I'm a musician, and I've written songs about faith, love, justice. But there's a song in Revelation that the saints sing - it's called the song of the Lamb. And I wonder what it sounds like.
Is it a song of vindication? Of triumph? Of love? Of lament? John doesn't describe the melody. But the singers are the redeemed - people who've been through suffering and come out the other side.
I think I've been trying to write that song my whole career. And I think every real song of faith is someone's attempt to sing it - to give voice to what it sounds like to have been broken and then made whole.
I'm listening now for the song others are singing. In the testimony of people who survived. In the spirituals. In the laments. That's the song of the Lamb.
