I'm an engineer, and I've spent my career thinking about building infrastructure that lasts. But I've also seen how everything human-made eventually decays and needs rebuilding.
John's vision isn't escape to a spiritual realm. It's restoration of the physical. New heaven AND new earth. Not body-despising spirituality, but full embodied redemption.
That changes how I approach my work. I'm not building for the millennium. I'm building as if the earth matters eternally. I'm designing infrastructure that protects what's sacred. I'm thinking about flourishing, not just function.
The fact that God's finally doing a full renovation - heaven coming down to dwell with humanity, with the physical world - that tells me the physical world mattered in the first place.
