When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, 'I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.' John's metaphor of light is constant—Jesus is the light that darkness can't overcome.
There's something about light that's both revealing and guiding. It shows you what's actually there (you can't hide in darkness) but also shows you where to go. Following Jesus means both: exposure of reality and guidance for the way forward. Not comfortable, but clear.
