I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. Jesus claims the shepherd role and immediately defines it: willingness to die for the sheep.
A shepherd doesn't exploit the flock. Doesn't extract value. Gives his life. That's what leadership means in Jesus's economy. Not power over but willingness to be used for others' wellbeing. I've watched leaders who understood this and leaders who didn't. The difference is stark.
