The seven angels prepare to sound their trumpets. When the first angel sounds, hail and fire mixed with blood are hurled to the earth. A third of the earth is burned up, a third of the trees, and all the green grass.
When the second angel sounds, something like a huge mountain of fire is thrown into the sea. A third of the sea becomes blood, a third of the creatures die, and a third of the ships are destroyed.
When the third angel sounds, a great star falls from the sky, burning like a torch. It falls on a third of the rivers and springs. A third of the waters become bitter, and many people die from the waters.
When the fourth angel sounds, a third of the sun, moon, and stars are struck so that a third of their light is darkened. The cycles of day and night become disrupted.
John hears an eagle flying overhead saying 'Woe, woe, woe to the inhabitants of the earth, because of the remaining trumpet blasts.' The warning is given before worse comes.
