See, I set before you today life and good, death and evil. Moses lays it out simply. There are two paths. One leads to life. One leads to death. One leads to good. One leads to evil. The choice is yours. You are not passive. You are not a victim of circumstance. You can choose. This is Moses' final appeal before he exits. Choose the life. Choose the good. Don't choose by accident or inattention. Choose deliberately. Choose consciously. Choose knowing the stakes. I think about how much of my own suffering has come from not choosing. From drifting. From going along with what seemed convenient rather than intentionally selecting the path. When I finally chose life in a deliberate way, even the hard parts of that choice felt better than the passivity. Choosing life means you own the difficulty. You're not victims of it. You're pursuing it because you've decided it's good.
