Jesus tells Sardis to wake up and strengthen what remains. There's still life in the congregation. Still people holding to the faith. They need to be mobilized and supported.
Remember what you've received and heard. Obey it. Turn from deadness to active engagement. The call is to present engagement, not nostalgic remembering. You can't go back to what was, but you can move forward from where you are.
Jesus promises that the overcomer will be clothed in white, and he won't erase their name from the book of life. He'll acknowledge them before the Father. The promise of public vindication. The thing they're being denied on earth, he'll grant in heaven.
