They've been made a kingdom and priests to God. That's the reversal of Babylon. Instead of priests serving the beast, they're priests serving the true God. Instead of subjects in an empire, they're citizens of the kingdom.
The gathering of all nations before the throne points to the ultimate purpose: a redeemed humanity united in worship of the Lamb. Division based on ethnicity, language, or nationality is transcended in unity before Christ.
