On the evening of that first day of the week, when the disciples were together, with the doors locked for fear of the Jewish leaders, Jesus came and stood among them and said, 'Peace be with you!' The disciples are hiding in fear. Jesus appears and offers peace.
Not despite their fear or because the threat is gone. But while they're still afraid. The peace is offered to frightened people in a locked room. I find that comforting. The peace isn't about external safety. It's presence that steadies you despite circumstances.
