I'm a young woman in a church where we sometimes skip the old people. They're not on social media, they don't understand current issues, they seem out of touch. But Paul's insisting on intergenerational transmission - older women teaching younger women.
I started spending time with women in their sixties and seventies. What they've learned about faithfulness, about staying married, about raising kids, about suffering well - that's gold. Not because everything they say applies directly to my life, but because they've walked this journey longer.
Now I'm actually mentoring younger women too, and I realize that's part of my calling - to receive from my elders and pass on to my juniors. It makes me feel part of something bigger than my own generation.
