Throughout the feasts, the people make offerings. But these aren't solemn, grim sacrifices. They're made in the context of celebration and joy. You bring your offerings while feasting, while remembering, while gathering with your community. The sacrifice is integrated into joy.
This transforms how we think about giving to God. We often imagine devotion as serious and somber. But the Levitical system pairs sacrifice with feast, offering with celebration. The people celebrate that they have enough to offer. They rejoice in God's goodness while giving back to Him. The gift is embedded in abundance, not in scarcity.
For us, generous giving to God is meant to flow from joy. When we give from resentment or obligation alone, we've missed the deeper point. Giving at its best involves recognizing: I have been blessed. I have abundance. I can share because I've received. The feasts remind us that offerings made with joy are the truest offerings. They acknowledge not just our need for God, but our recognition of His generous provision.
