Woman, why do you involve me?' Jesus replied. 'My hour has not yet come.' Mary tells him they've run out of wine. He responds by saying his hour hasn't come. Yet he then asks the servants to fill jars with water.
It's mysterious. His hour hasn't come (for his public revelation), yet he acts. His actions seem to contradict his statement. Unless the 'hour' refers to something specific about his mission timing, not whether he'll help. He's teaching Mary—and us—about timing and authority. Even family relationships aren't the determining factor. His relationship with the Father's timing is.
