God's explanation of manna: 'I will rain bread from heaven.' But then He adds 'that I may prove you, whether you will walk in my law or not.' The manna isn't just provision - it's a test of faith specifically about daily dependency.
I grew up in a prosperity gospel church where the message was basically 'trust God and He'll make you rich.' But this passage suggests something different: God will give you what you need, but He'll do it in a way that requires you to trust daily, to gather what's needed day by day, not to hoard.
My therapist helped me see that I was doing spiritual hoarding - trying to accumulate enough spiritual experiences, knowledge, reassurances to never have to need God again. But the manna model is that trust only deepens when you have to ask again tomorrow. That's not failure. That's the design.
