Paul's praying that their love would increase and overflow - not just get bigger, but overflow. Like it's so abundant it can't be contained. I'm trying to picture what a life looks like when love is like that.
I'm a kindergarten teacher, and I work with kids who come from really difficult situations. Some of them are not easy to love - they're aggressive, they're damaged, they're pushing everyone away. But I've noticed that the kids who actually heal are the ones who end up in a classroom where love overflows. Not perfect love, not uncritical love, but a genuinely abundant presence.
I've been working on my own capacity for this. It's not about having more patience - I'm actually pretty patient naturally. It's about letting love be bigger than the difficulty. About finding the moment where I can overflow rather than just contain. It makes the hard days bearable and makes the ordinary days beautiful.
