Peter tells believers you are like living stones, being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood. The image is striking. Not a building made once and finished. A living building under constant construction. Growing. Changing.
Jesus is the cornerstone. The foundation. Everything is oriented around him. But you're not passive stones. You're living. You contribute to the building. You're essential to the structure.
Peter notes that some reject the stone. To those who believe, he's precious. To those who disbelieve, he's a stone of stumbling. Your response to Jesus determines whether he builds you up or becomes a barrier to you. The same stone either affirms you or offends you.
