This is presented not as punishment or reward, but as simple cause and effect. Follow the statutes and you live - not maybe, but actually. The laws are given for life.
I'm a doctor, and I see this constantly: the laws around sexual boundaries, around relationships, around community - they're written into human flourishing. When people violate them, they get hurt. It's not God punishing them; it's the structure of reality.
That helped me stop seeing the law as constraint and start seeing it as a map toward actual thriving.
