Jesus warns the Thyatiran church about Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess and leads believers astray. He says 'I've given her time to repent of her immorality, but she's unwilling. So I'll cast her on a bed of suffering. Those who commit adultery with her I'll make to suffer intensely.' The judgment is specific: consequences matching the sin.
But to those in Thyatira who haven't followed her teaching, Jesus says 'I won't impose any other burden on you. Hold on to what you have until I come.' There's grace for the faithful even in a compromised community.
The overcomer will sit with Jesus on his throne, just as he sat down with his Father on his throne. It's the ultimate promise of co-rulership and intimacy.
