And the child grew and became strong; he was filled with wisdom, and the grace of God was on him. Luke gives us three brief glimpses of Jesus's childhood, and this is one of them: he grew. Physically, intellectually, spiritually.
There's something profound about God becoming human enough to have to grow. Jesus didn't arrive as a fully formed adult. He had to learn to walk, to talk, to understand the world. He had to grow in wisdom. That takes time. Incarnation isn't God appearing as human theater. It's God actually entering into human development. That changes how I understand my own growth. If Jesus had to grow, if development was part of his humanity, then my own slow learning isn't failure. It's the actual human process.
