I'm trying to understand what the incarnation and ascension actually mean. The author says Jesus entered heaven itself, into the presence of God, on our behalf. That's Jesus bringing humanity into the presence of God.
For centuries, heaven was far away and for later. But this suggests Jesus has already opened a way. We're already seated with him in the heavenly places, as Paul said in Ephesians. The separation isn't as absolute as I thought.
That's radically hopeful. I don't have to wait for death to be connected to God. Jesus has already entered the holy place for me. I can approach the throne because he's made a way.
