Jacob says to Esau: 'To see your face is like seeing the face of God, and you have received me favorably.' Jacob's experienced both - wrestling with God and reconciling with his brother. He's connecting them.
There's something about reconciliation that touches the divine. When someone you've wronged embraces you, when forgiveness happens, it's a kind of theophany - a God-moment. Jacob recognizes that in Esau's face.
My own reconciliation with my estranged sibling had that quality - I felt like I was seeing God in her face, in her willingness to let go. That changed me.
