Jacob gathers all twelve sons to give them final blessings and prophecies. Each son gets addressed specifically - their character, their trajectory, what will become of them.
Jacob's not giving the same blessing to everyone. Reuben gets different words than Judah, who gets different words than Benjamin. The blessing is tailored to the person.
This models how blessing actually works - it's not a generic prayer for everyone, but seeing someone specifically and speaking into their particular life. When I bless my children, I'm trying to do what Jacob did - see them clearly and speak to who they actually are, not who I want them to be.
