When he had received the drink, Jesus said, 'It is finished.' With that, he bowed his head and gave up his spirit. The work is complete. The mission accomplished.
Not 'I am defeated.' Not 'I give up.' But 'It is finished.' The thing I came to do is done. There's a sense of purpose fulfilled, of arrival. I think about the peace in that—knowing you've done what you were meant to do. That's different from success or winning. It's alignment of life with purpose.
