Micah is describing a time of judgment and decay - families divided, friends untrustworthy, confusion everywhere. And then: 'But as for me, I watch in hope for the Lord, I wait for God my Savior.' Even in the midst of cultural collapse, Micah is watching and waiting.
It's not naive hope. Micah understands how bad things are. But he chooses to orient toward God anyway. He's watching for God, waiting for deliverance.
I feel like we're in a cultural moment that echoes what Micah was experiencing - institutions failing, relationships breaking, trust eroding. And the question is whether I'm going to be consumed by despair or whether I'm going to keep watching and waiting for God. I want to be like Micah.
