Abraham's servant is sent to find a wife for Isaac. He prays for a sign, then immediately acts - asking women at the well about their families. God leads him, but he's actively engaged, paying attention, making conversation.
My discernment process for major decisions used to be either/or - either I was following God's will, or I was making my own choice. This servant showed me the both/and. He was fully present, asking questions, observing, testing his instincts. And within that active engagement, he perceived God's guidance.
When I was looking for my business partner, I realized I wasn't going to get a burning bush. I was going to get a woman at a conference I attended, having a conversation, and noticing alignment. The servant's prayer and his attentiveness - that's the model. God leads those who are already walking.
