I'm a genealogist, and I trace families back centuries. I see the patterns - how traits pass down, how families branch and reconnect, how origins matter and descendants matter.
Jesus saying he's both the root and the offspring - the source and the descendant - it's a genealogical statement. He contains all history. He's where it begins and where it ends.
I teach families to see themselves in that genealogy. Not as isolated individuals, but as threads in a vast tapestry that has Christ as both beginning and end.
That gives meaning to family work. We're not just connecting names. We're showing people their place in a story that's held by Christ.
